On day 9 of the trip, I was tired from both traveling and changing the accommodations every night. Well, at the same time I also wanted to prolong the trip and travel to North Island. Our trip was going to end soon.
Our plan on that day was to go to Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center, Lake Tekapo, and Church of the Good Shepherd.
From hostel, we drove to Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center first.
Sir Edmund Hillary was a New Zealand mountaineer who scaled Mt Cook and then Mt Everest. The museum presents the history of Mt Cook. Visiting the museum near the theatre is free, but you have to pay if you want to watch the movie. As always, we learned a lot at the museum.
Near the Alpine Center, there were sleds available. There were also trekking routes. We chose the shortest one since we did not prepare for trekking.
Then, we drove to Lake Tekapo, and Church of the Good Shepherd.
I was amazed with the color of the water in the lake. Then, we had lunch in the restaurant around. See the view from the restaurant. I wanted to work at this restaurant!
We stopped again at I-site (information center giving information about the region and activities). My friends wanted to try snow tubing. I did not join them because was a little bit sick.
So, we went to our hostel first. Then my friend drove back to I-site again. I like the hostel that we stayed that night very much. We could see the lake from the living room.
We also could see the lake from the bedroom!
Besides, there were many games available in the living room. That night I had a tight sleep. I realized later in the morning that some of my friends could not sleep because the heaters did not work well. 🙁
