On day 10, we left Lake Tekapo in the morning and headed north to Kaikoura. We dropped one friend from Sydney at Christchurch; he went back before us one day. It took us many hours to drive from Tekapo to Kaikoura; we reached Kaikoura in the evening. We spent time on the road and did not do anything much on that day.
Kaikoura is a well-known place for whale watching in New Zealand. Some of my friends wanted to see the whale, while I did not want to. So, on day 11, we separated into 2 groups. On that day we woke up quite late because the Whale Watch Tour started at 10a.m. and the receptionist told us that it took only 15-20 mins to be there.
After left my friends at the Whale Watch office, I went to Peninsula Seal Colony Kaikoura which was not that far from Kaikoura city center.
Here, we can see seal colony. Cute, aren’t they? They looked cute, but at the same time they were smelly!!! There was a sign warning us not to disturb the seals (such as move them or touch them) since they were resting. And they may bite us!!!
Next, we walked along the cliffs to see the beautiful coastline. Kaikoura was the warmest city in this trip. When we were there, the weather was so good, not too cold and not too warm.
Then, we drove back to Whale Watch office to pick up our friends, headed back to Christchurch, returned the car, and went to the airport.
Same as when we flew to New Zealand, our flight back was not a direct flight; we stopped at KL, Malaysia. It took us several hours to reach Bangkok, but it was ok because I saved a lot of money.
It was time to fly back home, back to Bangkok. Our holiday was going to end; we were going back to the real world. I was sad to leave New Zealand, but I was not sad at all about going back to the real world since my longest holiday was waiting for me.
Before the trip, I already sent the resignation letter to my boss telling her that I got the scholarship for study master degree in Europe for 2 years. After the New Zealand trip, it was time to hand over my work to my colleague and prepared myself for Europe! I was excited!!!
