Our seventh day, we started from Te Anau driving to Milford Sound, and to Queenstown. Along the way before reaching Milford Sound, we stopped at Mirror Lakes, Knobs Flat, and The Chasm.
Again, on that day we drove pass sheep farm. See? I told you it was easier to see sheep than people in New Zealand.
We were not that impressed with Mirror Lakes. We agreed that Lake Matheson and Lake Ianthe were much more beautiful.
Anyway, I loved how they put the sign showing the name of the lake. You have to read it from the reflection!
Our next target was Knobs Flat, one of Lord of the Rings filming site. Well, what we saw on that day was much different from the movie, since most of the grassland was covered by snow. Still, I loved the view there.
After that, we drove to The Chasm, where you can see the power of the water. From the car park, it took us only 15-minute walk to reach The Chasm. Over the bridge, we saw the sculpted rocks which were created by natural over thousands of years.
Then, we drove to Milford Sound, a fjord in the New Zealand’s South Island. Luckily, we got cheap cruise ticket (only NZ$45 per person) on GrabOne website. (We bought the tickets in advance)
On the cruise there were only 8 passengers which were our group and a couple travelers from New Jersey. Actually Milford Sound was our main destination on that day, but we were not impressed much there. It was about water and mountain and maybe we got used to the mountain views.
Our plan was to stay overnight at Queenstown. So, after the cruise trip, we drove to Queenstown.
