As you may know, Siam Square is the biggest shopping area in Bangkok. You can find many big shopping malls here such as Siam Center, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, MBK Center and Siam Square One, the newest mall in Bangkok (as of December 2014).
The big art gallery in this area is Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC). It is located opposite to MBK Center. I usually drop by this art gallery when I am bored with shopping.
Today, I would like to introduce you another art gallery which is also located in the same area named ArtGorillas ArtGallery. This one is much smaller than BACC. In fact, it is just one small room.
I have been here twice. The first exhibition needed a magnifying glass to see the artwork. You can see the photos of this exhibition here. I really liked it.
And this is the photo from the second exhibition I saw here. It was the Robot Factory exhibition, the collaborative work by Jitti Jumnianwai and O Witaya. I really like their interactive art.
At first I was a little bit confused. Then, I started from a camera on a robot. It captured my face photos and transferred them to the animation on the wall behind it. Besides, there were microphone hanging from the ceiling and a console with buttons which each button gave different results on screen. It is a mix of art and game!
Well, I think this video explains the art better than the photos.
All in all, I like this small art gallery. I have been here twice and I really enjoy my time with both exhibitions. I think this gallery is worth a visit.
Update: December, 2014
Location: The art gallery is located at 2nd Floor, Lido Theater, Siam Square Bangkok. The easiest way to go is to get off the skytrain (BTS) at Siam station and walk. The area around is less crowded than the other places in Siam Square. Just keep walking to the end of the corridor.
Admission fee: Free
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 20:00 (It is better to check the opening hours at facebook fanpage before you go as they usually update the opening hours and current exhibition there.)
