As you may know, Rattanakosin Island is a historic area of Bangkok. It is located on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. In this area, there are temples, shrines, museums, and beautiful buildings that are worth visiting. And it would take you several days to visit every place. In this post, I have chosen the places that you should not miss on Rattanakosin Island, and you can visit them in one day.
Wat Phra Kaew – This is the most sacred temple in Thailand and home of the Emerald Budda. The temple is always on the top tourist attraction place in Bangkok. For me, it is the most elegant temple in Bangkok. Here you will be fascinated by the big and beautiful gate-keeping giants, the mural painting, the ubosot, and so on. You can see my review of Wat Phra Kaew here.
The Grand Palace – This is an official residence of the Kings, and is used for royal ceremonies. Currently the present King is not living here. You will see many stunning buildings here. Wat Phra Kaew is located in The Grand Palace. So after visiting the temple, do not forget to visit The Grand Palace. You can see my review of The Grand Palace here.
Wat Pho – The main attraction of this temple is the Reclining Buddha. The temple is located near Wat Phra Kaew. This temple is also well-known for Thai traditional massage. You can try massage here, and you can also learn Thai massage here too. You can see my review of Wat Pho here.
Wat Arun – This temple is located on the other side of Chao Phraya River. The main attraction is the grand pagoda, which can be seen from a far distance, and the small pagoda around. You can climb the grand pagoda, if you want to. The view over there is amazing. Besides, the view at night is also nice. The temple is lit up and many tourists take the boat on the Chao Phraya River, which will pass Wat Arun. You can see my review of Wat Arun here.
