There are several shopping malls and markets in Bangkok, but there are not so many shopping places that I always go buying products. I am writing this post in order to tell you not only the name of my favorite shopping places, but also why I love going there. I hope that it would give you an idea how the shopping places look like and what you can expect from these places.
The Platinum Fashion Mall
When I am thinking of buying a new dress or new fashion clothing, The Platinum Fashion Mall is always my first preferred choice. This shopping mall offers not only clothing, but also shoes, handbags, necklaces, and so on. I love this mall because it is big. The mall consists of three zones in two buildings connecting to each other. The shops are well-organized. Besides, shopping in an air-conditioned building is more comfortable than in outdoor markets. The products here are cheap, and it is cheaper if you buy more. However, this mall does not connect with BTS Skytrain and MRT Subway. So, it is not that convenient to reach the mall. You can see my review of Platinum Fashion Mall here.
Chatuchak Weekend Market
If I want to buy books, I am thinking of this market. At this market, there is a big book zone selling both new books and used books and both Thai books and English books. The new books here are usually cheaper than in the bookstores in big shopping mall. Well, Chatuchak does not sell only books, but it sells so many things and the market is divided into several zones such as pet zone, souvenir zones, plant zones, clothing zones. You can expect to buy cheap products here and bargain is also acceptable. However, since it is an outdoor market, it is very hot especially in the afternoon. So, when I decide to go to this market, I would start my day either very early or in the late afternoon. You can see my review of Chatuchak Weekend Market here.
The shops in this shopping mall do not sell products as cheap as at the first two shopping places, but I like many boutique shops and designed product shops here. There are several restaurants and coffee café and the food court at this mall is also popular among locals. Many food stalls there sell cheap and delicious food. What attracts tourists to visit this mall might be the decoration. Each floor has its own theme which is based on the famous places around the world such as Rome, London, Japan, and so on. They decorate not only the retail area, but also the restroom. You can see my review of Terminal21 here.
Siam Paragon is a huge and luxury shopping mall where you can expect to buy international brands. This is not the mall that you can expect cheap products or bargaining. I usually go to this mall during sales season. This shopping mall is a great place to eat too; it offers Thai & international restaurants, coffee café, and dessert & ice-cream shops.
