Climate-Best time to visit Bangkok
Each season brings different feelings. So, I often heard the question like… when is the best time to visit Bangkok/ Thailand? For Scandinavian countries, probably summer is the best time to visit, but for Bangkok summer might be the worst.
Thailand has three seasons: rainy (June-October), summer (March-May), and cool (November-February). But, many Thais say that we have only one season which is summer. November to February is claimed to be the best period to visit Thailand because it is the cool season. Well… it doesn’t cool like we named it; you should know that it just not hot. For me, I think the temperature doesn’t change much from month to month. Thirty plus Celsius degree is typical temperature for Thailand. You can come here for the whole year except March, April, and May because it is too hot to go outside or explore the city during the day.Even if I say that I still always see tourists during these three months.
April is an extremely hot month. However, if you decide to come here during April, make sure to join the Songkran festival which is celebrated as Thai New Year from 13 April to 15 April. During these 3 days you will see people splash water to each other. Just google the word “Songkran” and see the images there; I’m sure you want to join the festival!
Before you visit a country, you have to know its currency. Baht is Thai currency. One Baht equals 100 satang.
Let’s get to know Thai bank notes and coins. We have 6 types of bank notes: 1000-baht note, 500-baht note, 100-baht note, 50-baht note, 20-baht note, 10-baht note. But, you probably see only 5 types. 10-baht note is rarely seen these days because we are now using ten-baht coin instead.
For coins, we have 6 types of coins as well: 10-baht coin, 5-baht coin, 2-baht coin, 1-baht coin, 50-satang coin, 25-satang coin.
You can exchange money at the banks in the airport and the malls. But, you can get slightly better rate at Super Rich (orange), Super Rich (green) or K79exchange. However, it might not worth to waste your holiday time to find them. So, if they are close to you, just go there. You can check the rates and find the map from their sites.
In Bangkok, there are 2 international airports: Suvarnabhumi airport (the current main Bangkok airport) and Don Muang airport. From Suvarnabhumi airport, you can reach the city by several ways such as bus, airport rail link, taxi, and limousine. Also, there is a transfer bus between Suvarnabhumi airport and Don Muang airport.
In Other provinces, there are many airports cover the other parts of Thailand. So, you can easily reach the touristic places such as Chiang Mai, Krabi, Ko Samui, and Phuket.
