Koh Si Chang or Si Chang Island is a district of Chonburi Province. This island is located in the Gulf of Thailand surrounding by 8 islands. It takes just only 3 hours from Bangkok to Koh Si Chang. You can make it either as a day trip from Bangkok or stay overnight there. For me, it is one of the perfect places for weekend getaway.
From Bangkok, there are several ways to get to Koh Si Chang such as bus, van, car, and taxi. You can take a bus either at Ekamai bus terminal or at Mo Chit bus terminal. For van, you can take it from Victory Monument, Bangkok’s transportation hub. It would take you around one hour and a half to Sri Racha. Then, you need to catch motorcycle or Tuk tuk to Koh Loi Pier and take the ferry to Koh Si Chang.
It would take you around 40 minutes on the ferry. Then, you will reach Koh Si Chang.
The island itself is so small; you can get around and see all main attractions of the island within 2-3 hours by renting a motorcycle or buy a tuk tuk tour. This island has several religious places and is a summer retreat for King Rama IV.
This island is also good for photo shooting and Asdang Bridge is like a must-view!
If you decide to stay overnight, do not miss the beautiful sunset views at Chong Kao Kard.
Well, in order not to be disappointed, I have to tell you first that the beach on this island is not as beautiful as those on islands in southern Thailand. If you decide to go there, do not forget to check the weather forecast first. I think it would not be fun to travel around the island with the rain pouring down.
