A review of Kum Poon Restaurant (Thai Issan Style)

Today I am going to recommend you a Thai Issan Restaurant named Kum Poon. As you my know, Issan is the northeastern region of Thailand and Issan food is popular around the kingdom. In Bangkok, you can easily found Thai Issan restaurants both in the shopping malls and on the street.

After long hours of shopping, I was very hungry and want to eat Som Tum (the popular Issan dish). My friend recommend me Kum Poon Restaurant which I have never heard of it before.

Before stepping into the restaurant, I saw that it was decorated in funfair theme.

We were invited to the vacant table by staff. He then handed us the menu which was available in both Thai and English languages.

After ordering the food, the staff served us a bowl of vegetables with two dipping sauces.

Here was the list of food we ordered. The first one was Tum-Koed-Muoi; this was a Som Tum which was cooked in Lao style (95 baht). I loved this dish a lot. It was really similar with Som Tum that I had eaten in Laos.

The second one was Larb-Ma-Ma-Moo-Sub; this was Larb of mince pork with instant noodle (95 baht). For me, this dish was too dry and the taste was so-so.

The third one was Phad-Mee-Ko-Raj; this was stir-fried rice noodle with pork (95 baht). This dish was nice. The noodle with pork cracker was a perfect blend.

All in all, I liked this restaurant. The food was quite good and the price was not expensive comparing to other Thai Issan Restaurants in the shopping malls. I will revisit the restaurant for sure!
