Last December, My mother and I went to Hong Kong for 4 days for vacation. Since visiting Ngong Ping Village and the Big Buddha was highly recommended, I went there.
In order to have nice views, we chose to go there by cable car. It was very convenient because the cable car terminal was adjacent to MTR’s Tung Chung Station.
Before going there, I read several reviews and found out that the queue to board the cable car was always long. And, to avoid this was to buy voucher in advance.
I did buy the voucher in advance. It took only few minutes to redeem the voucher. However, I still had to queue to board the cable car about 10 minutes. I chose the crystal cabin round trip and the queue for the normal one was much longer.
Well, the stunning views along the way to Ngong Ping Village was worth waiting for.
Here were the bird’s eye views that we saw through the crystal cabin.
Then, we started seeing the Big Buddha Statue from the cabin.
The ride took around 30 minutes. Then we reached Ngong Ping Village. Since I was there during December, there was Christmas decoration in many corners around the village.
At the village, there were many shops and restaurants selling food and souvenir.
After walking through Ngong Ping Village for five to ten minutes, I saw Tian Tan Buddha on the right side.
Just kept walking. Since I was there with my mother, I did not walk up stairs.
After paying respects to the Big Buddha, we walked to Po Lin Monastery, the Chinese Style temple. Then, we walked back to the terminal to take the cable car back.
In a nutshell, the ride up to the village was beautiful. Love the breathtaking view! The Big Buddha was amazing. Well, beware of the queuing. Buy voucher in advance and try not to go there during festival or long weekend.
