A road trip to South Island New Zealand, Part6

On the fifth day we drove from Wanaka to Arrowtown, a historic gold mine site. We passed Stuart Landsborough’s Puzzling World, Lake Wanaka, andCadrona Ski field.

On that day, when we woke up, the area around our hostel in Wanaka was full with snow. There was snow on our car as well. I was a little bit worry because I had never faced a situation like this before. At that time the question like “Can we start the car?” came to my mind. Haha… I was not stupid; I just did not know the ways people in the cold countries live their life.

Since the day before, when I saw the snow on the ground, I was afraid of slipping and falling down. And it happened!!! Instead of helping me, my friend took photos! Good!! NewZealand49

We started the day by going to Lake Wanaka first. The snow was falling quite hard.

Since the weather was not good, we decided to spend time in Stuart Landsborough’s Puzzling World. I was having fun there. We spent more time than we expected at this puzzling world.

It was so warm inside, so we played this game.

But, this puzzling word had a lot more than that. I love the “Roman Style Toilets” diorama. There was the sign telling us how to take a nice photograph. I love that they emphasized that “The toilets in this room are to look at- Not to use”. Haha … I do not think someone is going to use it for real.

There were many interesting things inside this building.

Also outside. When the snow stopped, we started taking photos outside. It took us for a while to get these photos.

Then, we got lost in the great maze.

 NewZealand58

The rules were placed on the wall. You can either take the standard challenge or the difficult challenge.

 NewZealand59

We took the standard challenge. Well, actually my friend took it and I just followed him. We found four corner towers and the way back! Yeah!!

 NewZealand60 NewZealand61

I was really tired in the maze. Then, I saw a sign telling us that the this maze has 1.5 kilometers of confusing passages and most people walk between 3 and 5 kilometers. Oh…Ok…No wonder…why I was so tired… I guessed we spent more than 4 hours at the puzzling world.

We went back to Lake Wanaka again and headed to our next destination, Cadrona Ski field.

 NewZealand62

Unfortunately, since the snow fell so hard, the ski field was closed. We did not have chance to see ski field again!

 NewZealand63

Along the way to Arrowtown, we also saw a lot of snow.

 NewZealand64

Finally we arrived our hostel. Arrowtown with snow was so cute.

P.S. After arriving hostel, my friends drove to the restaurant to buy food. People in the restaurant told them that the snow we saw was a snow storm and people were warned not to go outside after 6pm. OMG! We did not realize about this before. Lucky us, we all were safe!!
