Baan Somtum @ Sukhumvit 40, Bangkok, Thailand

Baan Somtum is a restaurant selling northeastern or Isaan Thai food such as Som Tum (papaya salad), sticky rice, grilled chicken, and other tasty dishes. If one of your goal for visiting Thailand is to try the food, Som Tum is a must. Som Tum is Isaan Thai food that is popular not just in northeastern, but all over Thailand.

Not so long ago, I had a chance to try Baan Somtum. Actually this restaurant is not far from my office (in a walking distance), so I go there quite often.

They have more than 25 dishes for Som Tum. In the photos below, they are Salted Egg in Thai Papaya Salad (Left), Fermented Fish and Salted Crab Papaya Salad (Top), Crispy Pork Rinds Papaya Salad (Bottom).

All Som Tum dishes here that I tried were very good (tasty and delicious). Well, my favorite ones are Salted Egg in Thai Papaya Salad, Thai Sweet Corn Salad, and Laos Traditional Pomelo Salad.

Photos below are the other dishes that I usually ordered.

Deep-Fried Sun-Dried Pork (Left) and Spicy Grilled Pork (Blade Shoulder) Salad (Right)

Spicy Soft Boiled Pork Ribs Soup (Left) and Deep-Fried Spicy Minced Pork (Right)

I do like Deep-Fried Spicy Minced Pork and recommend you to try.

The price of each dish is quite expensive comparing to eating Som Tum on street. However, it is worth the price.

At this restaurant, I do not only love the food, but also the decoration. Below is the photos of Sukhumvit Branch.
