There are many floating markets in Bangkok and neighbor provinces, but the most popular one is Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, a market in Ratchaburi province.
I have been there twice. The first time I went to the market when I was in Ratchaburi, and the second time I went to this market from Bangkok. This market is not far from Bangkok; it takes just only 2 hours drive. It is possible to make it as a day or half day trip, but you need to start the day very early. Well, believe me it is worth the effort.
At the market, you would see hundreds of local vendor boats selling fruit, vegetable, food, local products, or souvenirs along the canal. I am sure you will experience the local’s daily life and take many photos there. I also recommend you to have breakfast at this market. Walk on the passage; there are many delicious local food stalls that are worth trying!
You can rent a paddle boat at the market. I could not remember the price, but it was pretty cheap. The boat brought me out of the market passing the houses and gardens along the canal. If you want to hire a boat, I recommend you to walk into the market first and hire a boat there.
For me, Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is one of the must-see places. If you visit Bangkok or Thailand, do not forget to plan to visit this floating market.
