Explore Bangkok by BTS: Victory Monument (N3)

BTS is Bangkok elevated rapid transit system, which is known as Skytrain. With BTS, you can go to the major areas in Bangkok without facing traffic jams. Currently BTS has 2 main lines: Sukhumvit line and Silom line.

Victory Monument is a BTS station on Sukhumvit line that is located on Phaya Thai Road, near Victory Monument, one of the Bangkok landmarks.

Here is the map for the area around Victory Monument BTS Station. I have got this map from BTS official website. The area map for the other BTS stations can be found here. To enlarge, click at the map.

What to see around BTS Victory Monument Station

Let’s look at the map.

You will see that there is a skybridge connecting you to the places almost around the circle.

This area is a major transportation hub of Bangkok. There are many bus numbers passing the monument and nowadays it is a biggest minibus or van terminal in Bangkok. If you want to go to popular places near Bangkok such as Hua Hin, Cha Am, Kanchanaburi, or Pattaya, instead of going to the bus terminal, you can take a van here. The ticket prices are about the same, but you will reach the destination faster.

Victory Monument is also a great place to for shopping. There are clothing shops and shopping malls around the circle: Victory Mall, Fashion Mall Shopping Center, and Center One Shopping Plaza. These three malls are connected with the skybridge. You can see my review of shopping places here.

Besides, if you take exit 2, there is a skybridge connecting you to Century The Movie Plaza, a shopping complex offering you cinemas, restaurants, and retail shops.

This area is famous for Thai Boat Noodles. The noodles will be served in a small bowl. In the past, each bowl costed 7 baht, but now it is 10 baht. Usually one person eats at least 5 bowls at a time. After finishing each bowl, my friends and I will put it on our own stack. Then, finally we will see who eat a lot.

Santiphab Park is the only park in this area and it takes around 10-minute walk from the station. The park is not so big, but it is a peaceful place in the bustle area.

Phya Thai Palace is not so close to the station, but it is possible to walk. The palace was a farm, a hotel, and a hospital before; nowadays it is a museum where everyone can visit.
