Explore Bangkok by MRT: Sam Yan

MRT (Metropolitan Rapid Transit) is Bangkok rapid transit system, which is known as subway. Currently MRT provides service only one line (Blue line) which has 18 stations between Hua Lamphong and Bang Sue.

Sam Yan MRT station is a station that is located on Rama 4 Road, near Sam Yan Intersection.

What to see around Sam Yan Station

This station is close to Chulalongkorn University, the oldest university in Thailand. So, do not be surprised if you see many university students walking around.

If you take exit 1, you will see Hua Lamphong Temple, a big temple serving local people who live or work in this area.

Opposite to the temple is Chamchuri Square, a big building that consists of office tower, residential tower, and shopping mall. In the mall, you can find restaurants, coffee café, ice-cream shops, stationery shops, book shops, and so on.

Sam Yan is an area full with shophouses and many of them are well-known for delicious food.

At Chulalongkorn Soi 9, there is a big market named Sam Yan Market. This market has two floors. You can expect to see fresh and dry foods at the first floor. On the second floor there are many food shops selling cheap food. Majority of the customers here is university students.

Another popular attraction in this area is Snake Farm which is located in Queen Saovabha Memorial Institute.
