MRT (Metropolitan Rapid Transit) is Bangkok rapid transit system, which is known as subway. Currently MRT provides service only one line (Blue line) which has 18 stations between Hua Lamphong and Bang Sue.

What to see around Si Lom MRT Station

Silom is a main business area in Bangkok. The area is full with high-rise office building. Si Lom is an interchange station. It connects with BTS Skytrain at ‘Sala Daeng Station’. So, you can change from MRT to BTS or vice versa here.

This area is a popular place for tourists to stay during their visits. It is not only because they can take both rapid transit systems here, but also because this station is close to Saphan Taksin BTS Station, a a BTS station that connects with Chao Phraya Express Boat.

From the station, only few-minute walk you will see Silom Complex, a shopping mall connecting with BTS. This shopping mall offers you variety choices for lunch and dinner. International brands and also supermarket can be found at this mall too.

Five-minute walk from the station, you will see Lalai Sap Market, a popular market for office workers. People who work in this area go shopping at this market during lunch time. At this market, you can expect to buy food, clothing, shoes, handbags, and so on.

Lumpini Park is the big park in this area. The park is crowded in the weekends and in the evening on weekdays. From the station, you can walk to the park.

Patpong, a popular red light district, is also in a walking distance. This area is quiet during the day and becomes lively in the evening. Bars and restaurants are open, while street stalls are set up.
