As you may know, Bangkok has 2 airports: Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport. Currently Suvarnabhumi Airport is the main Bangkok airport. You might have to transfer between these two airports because many low cost airline flights depart from Don Muang Airport. In this post, I will share you the distance, taxi fare between these two airports, and also the shuttle, bus, and van running between the airports.
Distance and taxi fare
The distance between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Muang Airport is around 47 kilometers. Transferring between these two airports takes at least 30 minutes and it could take up to 2 hours depending on the transportation mode and traffic congestion. Taxi is the fastest option. The taxi fare plus toll is around 400-500 baht and it usually takes around 30-45 minutes.
Shuttle bus transferring passengers between Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang Airport is available from 5.00 am to midnight every day. It is free, but you need to present boarding pass. With this option, transferring between these two airports usually takes around 1 hour, and could takes up to 2 hours during peak hours. Here is the bus time table.
Bus and Van: in case that you do not have boarding pass and you want to save your money, bus and van could be your choice. Please bear in mind that these options are not recommended if you have luggage.
The bus numbers that run between the airports are #554 and #555 and the fare is 34 baht. If you are in a hurry, I do not recommend you to take a bus.
The vans usually use the highway and cost around 50 baht. It is quite fast to travel by van, but generally the drivers will wait for other passengers until almost of the seats are taken before departing.
