How to get from Platinum/Pratunam to Grand Palace

The Platinum Fashion Mall and Pratunam Market are the popular shopping places in Pratunam District. It is famous for cheap clothing and accessories. Many sellers go there to buy products and resell them. Many visitors choose to stay at the hotel in this area because they intend to do a lot of shopping during their visits.

The Grand Palace is one of the tourist attraction places in Bangkok. If you are going to visit Bangkok for the first time, this place is a must.

In this post I will share you how to travel from The Platinum Fashion Mall or Pratunam Market to The Grand Palace. It is not that convenient to travel between these two places because both of them are not connected with any rapid transportation system in Bangkok such as BTS Skytrain or MRT Subway. Here is my recommendation.

Taxi

Taking a taxi is the easiest option. The distance between The Platinum Fashion Mall/ Pratunam Market and The Grand Palace is about 6-8 kilometers. It should take around half an hour to reach the destination. However, it could take longer during peak hours.

Foot + BTS Skytrain + Chao Phraya Express Boat

Actually there are several bus no. passing the grand palace, but going there by boat is much easier and you will have less chance to get lost.

This option is recommended, if you do not want to get caught in the traffic chaos. First of all, you have to walk to the BTS Station. It can be either Chidlom Station or Ratchathewi Station. Both of them need 15 minutes walking from The Platinum Fashion Mall.

Update: May 2017 Walk to Chidlom Station by skywalk ( I have written a post about this new skywalk here. The post tells you how to walk from Chidlom to Platinum. You might read this guide and walk in an opposite direction).

Then take BTS Skytrain to Saphan Taksin station which is connected with Tha Sathorn Pier. From there, you can take Chao Phraya Express Boat to Pier Tha Chang. Then, take a short walk.

Enjoy traveling!
