How to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pratunam or Platinum Mall

Pratunam is a major shopping district in Bangkok. It is the area that you can expect to buy clothing, handbags, shoes, accessories, and so on in cheap prices especially when you buy in bulk. The most popular shopping places in this area are The Platinum Fashion Mall, Pratunam Market, and Baiyoke Tower.

Pratunam does not connect with BTS Skytrain and MRT Subway. But, it is not too far to walk to BTS Skytrain and Airport Rail Link. So, if you stay in this area, you have to take short walks to BTS Skytrain to reach the other parts of Bangkok. Pratunam is close to Ratchathewi BTS station, Chit Lom BTS station, and Ratchaprarop Airport Rail Link station.

I have seen that there are several hotel/hostel in this area, and recently I have seen tourists more and more in this area. So, in this post, I will share you how to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pratunam.

Airport Rail Link + walk

The first option is to take Airport Rail Link, the express train that connects you from Suvarnabhumi Airport to city center of Bangkok. There are 2 lines: express line and city line. To go to Pratunam, you have to take the city line and get off at Ratchaprarop station. It costs around 40 baht. Then, from Ratchaprarop station, it takes around 5-minute walk to Pratunam Market and around 10-minute walk to The Platinum fashion mall.

Taxi is still the easiest option to go to anywhere in Bangkok. The distance between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Pratunam is about 30 kilometers. It should take around 40 minutes (or more if the traffic is bad) to travel between these two places and the fare should be around 250 baht plus toll (or more if the traffic is bad).

The first option is cheaper, but it is really difficult to say which option is better or faster because it depends on the traffic congestion at that time. My recommendation is to use Airport Rail Link if you do not want to be caught in traffic jams in Bangkok!

Hope this information helps.
