Wat Arun is famous for the beautiful views at sunrise and unique architecture of pagoda, while Wat Pho is famous for the huge reclining Buddha and Thai massage. Both are popular tourist destinations in Bangkok. If you travel to Bangkok for the first time, I am sure that these two temples must be included in your itinerary. And luckily they are located in the same area, so you can visit them within one day.
Wat Arun is located on the west bank of Chao Phraya River, while Wat Pho is located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River. And, they are opposite to each other.
To get to Wat Pho, if you travel by boat, you have to get off at Tha Tien. Then, take a short walk. And from Wat Pho, to get to Wat Arun, it is very easy. You just take a cross-river ferry to Tha Wat Arun.
If you read my blog from time to time, I always recommend readers to explore Bangkok by BTS Skytrain and MRT Subway. These two transportation modes would save you time from traffic. However, to wander around Bangkok’s old town or so-called Rattanakosin Island, I personally think that the best transportation mode is by boat.
