Koh Kood or Kood Island is located in Trat, a province in eastern Thailand. This island is less popular and developed than Koh Chang, a neighboring island and, of course, more tranquil.
My colleagues and I decided to go there during weekend. From Bangkok, we took a bus at Ekamai Bus Terminal at night and arrived Trat very early in the morning. Then, took a minibus to the port and took speed boat to the island.
We stayed at Captain Hook Resort for 2 nights. The package that we bought included accommodation, meals, a trip to see firefly, a trip to waterfall, and a diving trip. The resort welcomed us with cozy atmosphere and ambience. I liked the resort itself and also the foods (Thai dishes and seafood) very much. Besides, I enjoyed the crystal clear water in front of the resort too.
The activity that we did in the evening was riding kayak in front of the resort.
I was a bit disappointed with a boat trip to see firefly because I did not see firefly much that night as I expected.
The size of the waterfall was not that big, but we enjoyed play the water.
For snorkeling trip, I would say Koh Kood and Trat’s coast are not great snorkeling sites. As you may know, the islands in the Andaman sea side and Gulf of Thailand are more well-known for diving and snorkeling than the islands in the East of Bangkok. So, do not set high expectation for snorkeling if you come to Koh Kood. I snorkeled once in Tarutao National Marine Park (Andaman Sea) and twice in Koh Nang Yuan and Koh Tao (Gulf of Thailand), the coral reefs there were much more colorful and beautiful than in Koh Kood. But what you will get from Koh Kood is the idyllic place where you can relax and spend time with yourself.
