Padang Besar (I Carried You Home) is a Thai drama movie that was released in 2011. The movie starts Apinya Sakuljaroensuk, Akhamsiri Suwanasuk, and Torphong Kul-on.
Padang Bear (I Carried You Home) is the story of a family that has three people: mother and 2 daughters: Pin and Pan. The mother dies and the two sisters had to accompany their dead mother from Bangkok back to the hometown, Padang Besar, a town located on the Malaysia-Thai border in southern Thailand. The death of their mother forces the two sisters to be together on the road for two days.
The two sisters grow apart. Pin works in Singapore, while Pan grows and studies in Bangkok. And they both have some conflict in the past. The journey does not only make them reunite, but also make them understand each other more and become closer.
Padang Bear (I Carried You Home) gained many awards and were shown in several countries. For me, even if this movie is a drama movie, it made me laugh in the funny scenes. However, the movie does not send messages to the watcher directly. The sequence of shot, the shot transition, and the camera angle are strange. I was confused and sort of dizzy in many parts of the movie. The reason of the conflict kept me watching the movie until the end, but when the secret reveals, I was disappointed.
After watching the movie, for me, ‘I carried you home’ could mean the two sisters carry their dead mother back home, and it also could mean their dead mother carries the two sisters back home at the same time.
Here is a trailer with English subtitle. Enjoy watching!
