Poo Yai Lee Gub Nang Ma is a Thai romantic comedy lakorn that originally aired in 2009 on Channel 3. The lakorn stars Tridsadee Sahawong (Por) and Chermarn Boonyasak (Ploy).
Poo Yai Lee Gub Nang Ma can be translated as “Village Headman Lee and Miss Ma” in English. The story is about Malinee or Ma, a famous model living in Bangkok, and Lee, a village headman living in countryside. One day, Ma receives a letter informing that her grandmother passes away and leaves her several acres of land with the condition that she must take care of the land by herself only. And if she wants to sell the land, she needs to sell it to Lee only.
Ma does not want to do farming, but she decides to stay at the village in order to stay away from her cheated boyfriend. While living in countryside Ma has to adjust herself a lot to live there, and Lee kept teasing her. Soon, the relationship of Ma and Lee gradually develops.
This lakorn was built based on a novel that was written in 1963. Actually this novel was produced as a lakorn several times and also was produced as a movie once. I have heard about this lakorn since I was young, but this version was the first version that I watched. So, I could not say that this version is the best one. Well, for me, as a person who loves rice fields and rural scenes, this is a good lakorn to watch. It is funny and Ma & Lee are a cute couple.
It is one of the good Thai lakorn. If you do not know Thai and can find the version with English subtitle, I recommend you to watch it.
