Present Perfect Continuous Tense is a Thai romantic drama movie that was released in 2013. The movie stars Lalita Panyopas, Setthapong Piangpor, and Chayanuch Boonthanapibol.
It is a story of a 40-year-old woman with one child named Aiam, who is in a romantic relationship with a 20-year-old man named Jing. They meet each other when Jing is a high school student and Aiam is his English teacher. Jing falls in love with his teacher, and he tries to win her heart.
“Rationally, I might not be able to love you. But emotionally, I cannot live this life without you”
At first Aiam is reluctant to start a relationship because of the age difference, but finally they both decide to date each other.
In Thai society, in the past it was quite difficult to see couple that a woman is older than a man, but nowadays we see this thing more and more. The movie shows us how the age difference between Aiam and Jing affects their relationship. What is happening when a woman already settles down and a man is still studying in the university and is about to start his working life? Are they too different to be together?
There is another Thai movie that is about the age difference relationship such as Fabulous 30, but that movie is more positive; it is funny and cute. For Present Perfect Continuous Tense, the movie makers did a great job to show us the challenges that could happen in the age difference relationship. Many good and thoughtful conversations can be seen in the movie. Well, the movie editing is not good. Some scenes are very short and strange, and the whole movie is not smooth.
