Raeng Ngao is a Thai drama lakorn that originally aired in 2014 on Channel 3. The lakorn stars Janie Tienphosuwan, Phupoom Phongpanu, Ravit Terdwong, Tanyared Engtrakul.
Raeng Ngao can be translated as “Power of Shadow” in English. The story is about twin sisters Munin and Mutta. Munin is a smart young woman who is working in the United States, while Mutta, a naive young woman, gets a job in Bangkok. At the office, Mutta meets Vikit. They become friends. Vikit has a feeling for her, while she has a feeling for Chenphop, her boss who has a wife and children. Vikit is heartbroken, while Mutta and Chenphop are in a secret relationship.
One day Nopnapha, Chenphop’s wife, knows that Chenphop has an affair. She publicly humiliated Mutta and Chenphop does not help her. Mutta then realizes that he does not love her. Mutta goes back to her hometown and commits suicide. At the same time, Munin decides to go back to Thailand. She is the first one who finds Mutta’s body. Munin is shocked and she blames herself for not being there for her sister. Munin started a plan to revenge for her sister. She goes to Bangkok and pretends to be Mutta.
This lakorn was produced as movies for 2 times (1986, 1988) and as lakorn for 2 times (2001, 2012). I watched only lakorn versions and both of them were very popular when it broadcasted. I like the second part of the lakorn when Munin pretends to be Mutta to revenge and no one at the office know about this. This drama lakorn finally emphasizes us how important family is and also the important of the way parents raise their children.
If you are looking for a Thai drama lakorn, I recommend Raeng Ngao. For me, both versions are great.
