Root Garden… Let’s have a cup of coffee in the garden in the city

Last Saturday my friend and I went to ‘Root Garden’ to grab a cup of coffee together. I have heard about this coffee café for a while from both TV program and also newspaper, but I did not have a chance to go there.

‘Root Garden’ is a coffee café that is located in Thong Lor, a Bangkok trendy upscale area. Well, to be precise I should call it ‘coffee farm’. See the photos and you will know why I call it like that.

For me, I am very surprised that there is a farm in the middle of the busy city like Bangkok, and people are welcome to walk around.

Summer has already been here in Bangkok for a week or so, so I chose to wear the comfortable and casual dress that I have got from Zalora, an online fashion retailer.

Before ordering the coffee, we decided to see the farm first. Surprisingly there were more foreigners than Thai!!!

We found various edible vegetables that we usually see it in the kitchen at home. Besides, there are chickens and goats wandering around in the cage.

Kids were allowed to feed the animals and plant vegetables.

The café did not sell only coffee, but also cakes, and organic products. You can choose to sit both in the garden and in the café. The taste of coffee was great; we ordered Mocha coffee and we liked it (85 baht for a cup of coffee.).

If you are in Bangkok and you love drinking coffee at an independent coffee cafe around the town, I do recommend this one.

Update: March, 2015

Location: Thong Lor Soi 3, Sukhumvit Road Soi 55. The easiest way to go there is to get off from skytrain(BTS) at Thong Lor Station and take exit 3. Then, walk around 10 minutes you will see the farm.

Opening Hours: The garden is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, but the coffee café is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
