Sabai Jai Keb Tawan… an independent Thai Isan Restaurant

Sabai Jai Keb Tawan or originally named Sabai Jai Kai Yang is a Thai Restaurant which is well-known for Thai Issan food (North Eastern Thai food) and tasty Thai food. This restaurant has been open since 2000.

The restaurant has 2 main zones: air conditioned room and open air zone. I went to this restaurant twice and I chose to sit in the room because the weather was so hot and humid. Well, I saw many people choosing to eat outside. Just choose the one that you prefer.

The menu is available at the restaurant’s website. Unfortunately the list is not complete and there is no English language. You can look at the photos to have an idea what they are serving.

My recommendation is Som Tum (or Thai green papaya salad which is popular around the world). The restaurant offers several versions of Som Tum. Just choose the one you like. If I am not wrong, they have English description in the menu. I saw many foreigners eating there. We usually order grilled chicken or fried chicken to eat together, and do not forget to order sticky rice.

On that day, we ordered quite a lot, and we enjoyed the taste.

Another dish that I liked was Jim Jum or Thai hot pot. After ordering it, you will get a small clay pot filled with broth sits over a charcoal, and dishes of vegetables and meats. If you are familiar with Sukiyaki, I am sure you know how to eat Jim Jum. It is not different. Just put the vegetables and meats in the clay post and wait a little bit to cook them. Then, you can eat it.
