May 2018 is about to pass. This blog post aims to tell you how the weather in Bangkok, Thailand in May 2018 was in order for you to use it as a reference when planning a trip to visit Bangkok in May in the later years.
May is the starting month of rain season in Thailand. The rain here usually falls heavily and if it rains during rush hours, people are stuck in the traffic for more than an hour. However, after suffering with the heat in summer for two months, it is good to see the rain.
For May 2018, the weather was as expected. It rained quite often throughout the month. I had to bring an umbrella with me when going outside. And, many times it rained heavily. So, on the rainy days, the temperature usually went down to 25 to 32 degrees Celsius. However, when it did not rain, the temperature went up to 35 degrees Celsius.
For a visitor who plan to visit Bangkok in May, my recommendation is to have the umbrella with you. It would protect both rain and sunshine. Besides, if it is possible, you should have a flexible plan. Try to visit an indoor places such as museums or shopping malls on the rainy days. For the transportation mode, I do recommend you to take rapid transportation systems (BTS or MRT). Traffic is really bad here when raining. Besides, to avoid crowded people, you might either start your days early or late in the morning. Both BTS and MRT are packed from 7 to 9 am.
Enjoy wandering around Bangkok!
