Songkran is a Thai New Year festival mostly starting from 13 April to 15 April in Bangkok, and the festival might start earlier and end later in some regions in Thailand. If you are going to visit Bangkok during Songkran and finding activities that you can do during the festival, you have come to the right place. In this post, I intend to share you what to do in Bangkok during Songkran.
Join the ‘splash water’ event
The most popular event during Songkran festival is “Splash Water”. You can expect to see both Thais and foreigners joining the event, and you are welcome to join! You can read and choose the place to join the event here and see how Songkran 2015 in Thailand was here.
During Thai New Year, Thais go to temples to make merit and many of them visit 9 temples in a day. In the temple, there are traditional activities that you can see and learn Thai culture.
You still can go shopping during almost a week holiday in Bangkok. Even if many shops in the markets are close, you still can shop in the malls. All shopping malls are open from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm as usual. If you are a fan of international brand products, go to the shopping malls. However, please bear in mind that Songkran is not a sale season in Thailand.
