For local, Victory Monument is a transportation hub area. People can connect between BTS Skytrain and public buses. Besides, it is also a hub of minibuses or vans taking you to several places near Bangkok such as Hua Hin, Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya, Pattaya, and so on. It is one of the busy areas in Bangkok, but it is not that great for sightseeing. Here is the list of things you can do in Victory Monument area.
Eat street food
Since Victory Monument is transportation hub where many people have to come to take the skytrain, buses or minibuses, the street food stalls are available all over the area. It is an area where you can try cheap and tasty foods.
Eat Thai Boat Noodles
Thai Boat Noodles are a popular dish in this area. There are several restaurants lining along the canal selling boat noodles. The special thing is the noodles come in a very small size of the bowl. Each bowl costs only 10 baht. So, the customers usually eat more than 5 bowls at a time. You can read my review of Thai Boat Noodles at Victory Monument here.
Victory Monument is a great place for not only eating street foods, but also shopping fashion items. There are shopping malls around. You can read my review of shopping places in this area here.
Phya Thai Palace
Phya Thai Palace is a palace that was built in King Rama V reign. This palace was a farm, a hotel, and a hospital before and nowadays it is open to the public and free admission. The palace is not that close to Victory Monument, but it is possible to walk. You can read my review of Phya Thai Palace here.
Santiphap Park is the only park in this area. It is located in a walking distance from Victory Monument. If you happen to stay in this area and you want to escape from the busy world, you can have a walk here. The park is not big, but it gives you peaceful atmosphere.
