Where to stay in Bangkok for backpackers

Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand and the city offers many areas to stay. Some are expensive, while some are cheap. If you are a backpacker and finding a place to stay for a Bangkok trip, this post is for you. In this post, I intend to share the popular areas that visitors choose to stay, while they are in Bangkok.

Khao San

Khao San is the name of the short street that is full of pubs, bars, and restaurants. This area is the most popular area for budget travelers ever. It is easy to find cheap hostels at Khao San and the area is close to historical sites. Well, please be aware that hostels tend to be crazy, noisy, and busy during the night because of the loud music from several bars at the same time.

Victory Monument

Victory Monument is one of the main transportation hubs in Bangkok. And that makes the area crowded and busy from early morning until late at night. The hostel can be found here. The good thing is the area connects with BTS Skytrain, which is a  convenient way to get around Bangkok, and there are many street food stalls to explore.

Silom is one of Bangkok’s most important business districts and the area is full of office buildings, shopping malls, restaurants, and markets. Pubs and bars also can be found here. As expected, Silom is usually busy on weekdays. The good thing about staying in this area is it connects with both BTS Skytrain and MRT Subway. However, it is not close to historical sites like Khao San Road.

Sukhumvit is a popular and long road covering major business and entertainment areas of Bangkok such as Nana, Asok, Thong Lor, and Ekkamai. The area is full of luxury hotels, but hostels still can be found. The good thing about staying in this area is many areas connect with BTS Skytrain, and some areas also connect with MRT Subway. Shopping malls and markets could be found along the BTS line.
