Yangmingshan is one of the big national parks in Taiwan. The park is located in Taipei and it can be accessed by public bus. To get around the park, there is a public bus stopping at several points in the park. At first I planned to take that bus which was quite convenient because the buses came every 15-20 minutes. But, I changed my mind.
I visited Taiwan in December 2010. At the time that I visited, my friends were doing their master’s degree in Taiwan and the university organized a trip to Yangmingshan. So, they asked the teacher to allow me to join the trip.
Even if there were many things to see and do at this park, I had a chance to visit only 2 places in the park: Yangmingshuwu and Xiaoyoukeng.
Yangmingshuwu, one of the historical sites in the park, was built by former President Chiang Kai-shek; it was used for receiving foreign guests and used as a summer retreat.
Xiaoyoukeng is another popular site. We stopped to see fumaroles. To be honest, I DO NOT like it at all because of its smell.
On that day we did not spend much time at Yangmingshan because according to the plan, we would have lunch at the market outside the park and then went to other places.
Even if I am a nature lover, frankly I was not impressed much with this national park; it was quite windy. Well, maybe I did not go there at the right time.
