Yoong Khao Hom – Southern Thai Restaurant in Bangkok

Southern Thai cuisine might not as popular as North-Eastern Thai cuisine, but it is worth a try. In general, southern Thai cuisine is spicy and sour. It is not so much sweet. Moreover, the dishes are better to eat with rice.
Yoong Khao Hom is a Southern Thai restaurant that I first knew through my friend’s post on Facebook. The photos of the dish were mouthwatering and made me visit the restaurant.

In front of the restaurant, there was a Michelin Guide sign guaranteeing the quality of the food.

Yoong Khao Hom is a popular restaurant at Samui Island (Southern, Bangkok) that has been opened since 1998. Currently, all the local ingredients are sent from Samui To Bangkok and are cooked and served here.

In Bangkok, Yoong Khao Hom restaurant has 2 branches.

My friend and I have been to Mega Bangna Branch. We ordered 3 dishes to eat with rice.

Stir-Fried Sculling Crab with Chilli (450 Baht)

Stir-Fried Pork with Shrimp Paste (180 Baht) – This one was the recommended one.

Sweet and Sour Soup (Kang Som) with Vegetable Omelet (220 Baht)

All in all, the food was ok; not delicious as expected. For me, the taste of the food was not spicy and sour as I expected. And, it was not full-flavored as it should be. However, the service was standard; nothing to complain. If you want to try southern Thai cuisine and love the mild flavor, this restaurant could be your choice.
